I Built a One-Meter RX-78-2 — Free STL Download

A month of printing, a weekend of assembly, and one very happy Gunpla builder. Here's the free 3D file so you can build your own life-size Gundam at home.

I've built a lot of Gunpla over the years. HGs, MGs, a few PGs. But nothing — absolutely nothing — prepared me for standing next to a 90cm RX-78-2 that I printed myself.

The Feeling

When I snapped the head on and stepped back — I just stood there. A full meter of RX-78-2, right in my living room. The scale hits different when it's taller than your coffee table.

Every time I walk past it, I still stop. There's something about seeing the White Devil at this size that no PG or Mega Size kit can touch. It's not just a model anymore — it's a presence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How tall is this RX-78-2 model?

Roughly 90cm (35 inches) at 1/20 scale — about 3x the height of a standard PG Gundam kit.

Q: Is the STL file really free?

Yes. Completely free, shared with permission from the original creator. Download directly from the link above.

Q: What 3D printer do I need?

Any standard FDM printer works — the model is designed to fit common build plate sizes. No oversized machine required.

Q: How does this compare to buying a PG kit?

This 1/20 print makes a PG look like a little brother standing next to it. The visual impact is on another level entirely.

Q: How long does the print take?

Count on roughly 3-4 weeks of printing time. It's a project, but every layer is worth it when you see the final result.

The RX-78-2 Gundam design is the intellectual property of Bandai Spirits and Sotsu. This is a fan build using a free 3D model — not an official Bandai product.
