The World: Universal Century 0096
The events of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn take place in UC 0096 — thirty-three years after the One Year War. At the center is the "Laplace Incident": a mystery stretching back to the founding of the Universal Century calendar.
The Laplace Space Colony was destroyed in UC 0001 during a terrorist attack at the ceremony proclaiming the Universal Century charter. What most people don't know is what the original charter said — and what was quietly removed. That secret is encoded in the Laplace Program inside the Unicorn Gundam.

The NT-D System: Newtype Destroyer
The NT-D (Newtype Destroyer) System is the Unicorn's most controversial feature. When activated, the machine enters Destroy Mode — and its defining capability is not raw performance enhancement. It is the ability to seize control of enemy Newtype weapons: bits, funnels, remote weapons guided by Newtype brainwaves can be intercepted and redirected against their original operators.
⚠️ The Ethical Contradiction
Banagher Links — the pilot — is himself a Newtype. He pilots a machine designed to destroy Newtypes. Only a Newtype can activate the NT-D. Only a Newtype can unlock the Laplace Program. The machine requires the very thing it was designed to eliminate.
The Psycho Frame: Why the PG Kit Was Made to Glow
The Psycho Frame embeds microscopic psycommu receivers directly into the mobile suit's frame material, allowing the pilot to operate the suit through mental intent. In Bandai's PG kit, the internal skeleton is made from a special photosensitive resin with high light diffusion properties — when illuminated, it glows evenly from within, exactly as depicted in animation.
This is why LED kits for the PG Unicorn work so dramatically well. The material was designed to glow. Adding the KOSMOS Phantom Series is not "adding lights to a model." It is completing the design as Bandai intended.
